Understanding Aged Care

The hardest part of finding the right aged care solution for you and your family is learning about the services available and then making the decision.

Like every important decision, the process can take some time. While ACPS are able to help you with urgent placements, we understand that people do sometimes like to undertake their own research and share links with family and friends.

A good starting point is always www.myagedcare.gov.au which was established by the Australian Government to help you navigate the aged care system. This website is also supported by a call centre and they can help people requiring translation services.

They also have an incredibly comprehensive and up to date glossary that we thoroughly recommend to everybody. www.myagedcare.gov.au/glossary

DPS have a directory at www.agedcareguide.com.au. It is independently audited by the Audited Media Association of Australia (AMAA) and supported by social media, DPS News and the DPS Guide printed publications.

If you are looking for dementia specific resources and assistance, Alzheimer’s Australia can be found at www.fightdementia.org.au. The website has contact numbers, case studies and resources which are incredibly useful for anybody living with dementia.
